오늘도 정말 유용한 표현들이 많네요.

영화를 보다 보면 직역를 하기 보다 의역을 해야 의미가 잘 전달되는 거 같아요.

에피스드 1을 돌려보고 돌려보고 해서 어느정도 내용이 들리는 듯 하면

이제는 한 문장씩 쉐도잉 해보도록 해요.

그대로 쉐도잉 하다 보면 다음에 들을 때 더 잘 들리게 되요.

들려야 대답으로 이어질 수 있고 

들릴려면 입으로 많이 따라 말해봐야 해요.

영어정복을 위한 길은 '그저 따라 말하기'인 거 같아요.

• 직역하면 “널 가게 해야겠어”지만, 비즈니스 회화에서 이건 해고하다(fire)의 완곡한 표현입니다.
• 예의 있게 잘라내는 말로 자주 사용돼요.

I just got reamed for lying to a client and if they find out that I lied about you going to Harvard, they'll take away my license.

고객에게 거짓말한 거 된통 깨지고 왔어. 네 출신이 드러나면 자격정지를 당할 수도 있어.

• get reamed = 호되게 혼나다, 엄청나게 비난받다 (속어)

You what? 뭐라고요?

Look, I have to put my own interests above yours. 

내 앞가림이 우선이거든. 

 

It's nothing personal. You're fired.

미안하지만 해고야.

 

Wait. So you're worried that if I stay, then they might find out that you lied about me and you'll lose your license.

It started two years ago.
